How To Password Protect a Google Form

Today, I want to show you how to password protect a Google form.

There are several reasons to password protecting a Google form. You may want Google forms that are set up as tests to be secure. Or maybe you want all your students to start at the same time or perhaps you don’t want absence students to be able to open the Google form.

How to make a password-protected Google form

You’ll notice that I have a Google form open right here and that I have my Google form in sections. From the student perspective, if you look at this, you’ll see that I can type my name, and I can choose my blog. And so it makes the next section. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to go over to where I was.

I’m going to click on the title of my Google form to add a section at the top.

In this first section, you’re going to add a question. The question will be, “Please type the password.” And remember your password can be anything that you want it to be. You will need to make this a required question.

Next, we will go over to the three dots, and we need to click response validation. So when I click on response validation, your Google form can be password protected with numbers or with text. I will do mine with text today.

I am going to make it my last name. Once you put in your password, you can leave a message for students that get the password wrong. My students will see a message to keep trying. 

Let’s take a look at the student view of the Google Form

And what you’ll notice is that my Google form now has turned into a password-protected Google form. If I were to type a different name, it’s not going to let me in. It’s going to tell my students to keep trying. But if I type the right one, then I hit next, and now my students can access the Google form.
