Easily Conquer Geometry Vocabulary in a few minutes a day

I want to talk to you about another component of this smart slides. So you’ll notice that I have the Teacher Time Slide pulled up. There were three components to the teacher Time Slide. There’s vocabulary, there’s the teacher examples where the direct construction examples and then we have the Teacher Time, You Try.

In this video we’re going to focus on the vocabulary. Vocabulary is very important for a math classroom and in each smart slide deck there is the link to the vocabulary terms.

I challenge my students every day to spend just a few minutes doing something on flippity. When you click on the vocabulary link, the flippity opens up and flip. It is a Google extension add on and they are pre-made for you. All you have to do is have your students click on it.

You can look at the list of vocabulary for unit 1. You can go in and you can adjust these to however you want to word the definition.

This students can practice, they can match up the terms. My students really enjoy all the different activities that they can do. I asked that they do something with the vocabulary every day.

That way, at the end of the unit, when we have our vocabulary, Google form quiz, they don’t really have to study for it. That’s because they’ve been studying for it all along. It also has a word cloud.

And for those of you that like word walls, you can just print this and put it up on your wall.

If you got to the more tab, you’ll see that there are all types of different examples so that you can throw the content of the words to your students and they can play these games and learn the terms.

It works so much better than just giving them the list of definitions. My students really enjoy this.

So the flippity is made in each one of the teacher time slides. The link is the same for each unit. So the students get more familiar with the vocabulary. At the end of each unit, there’s a Google form that has the exact definition and the vocabulary term and the students complete that as part as of their summative review assignment.
